"Packages contain metadata, such as the software's name, description of its purpose, version number, vendor, checksum, and a list of dependencies necessary for the software to run properly."

package-tracker is a tool to compare versions of distribution packages.

3.1 Source

  1. sudo apt install asciidoc git docbook-xml docbook-xsl libxml2-utils make xsltproc FIXME
  2. git clone https://sources.open-infrastructure.net/software/package-tracker
  3. cd package-tracker && sudo make install

3.2 Debian 10 (buster) and newer
